The Opportunity Min Res is seeking an experienced Mine Geologist to join us at Iron Valley on an 8x6 FIFO roster from Perth.
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will use your geological knowledge to identify, map, and designate the characteristics and classification of materials, aiming to maximise the practical recovery of ex-pit ore.
You will constantly enhance and refine the prospective geological model and actively contribute to the accuracy of mine planning grade and tonnage forecasting.
Communicate and oversee the ore feed/blending strategy for the site based on the outputs of the Monthly and Weekly Plans to ensure the recovery of ore.
Provide input towards relevant daily, weekly and monthly reconciliation and compliance routines.
Assist the Pit Technicians with proactive planning of sampling requirements and ore spotting duties.
Daily inspections of dig areas and stockpiles to support ore hygiene requirements and weekly face mapping in the pits to help improve ore modelling routines.
Providing SME advice and direction to mining engineers to ensure geology is at the forefront of mining strategy and execution decision.
What is required? Tertiary qualification in Geology, Geoscience or equivalent in related discipline.
Minimum 3 years of postgraduate experience within an open-pit mining and resources environment.
Strong computer and written skills, preferably with exposure to approvals reporting and incident management.
Proficient utilising SURPAC Mining Software.
Unrestricted Australian working rights.
