Due to recent expansions and a growing portfolio of copper and gold exploration projects, this mining organisation is seeking a junior Mine Accountant to join their team on the ground.Your new roleThis position is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional seeking to enter the mining sector and gain hands-on experience. This role offers a unique opportunity to transition into the world of commerce, where you'll be at the forefront of driving financial success in a dynamic mining environment.Responsibilities:Manage financial reporting for mining operations, including month-end processes, budgeting, payroll, forecasting, and variance analysis.Handle payroll processes, including data entry, wage calculation, deductions, queries, and taxes.Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Support accounts payable and receivable processes as required.Conduct financial account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.Compile reports for tax, statutory accounts, management reporting, and payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance.Provide support for business analysis activities related to capital projects, contracts, procurement, and operational excellence initiatives.What you'll need to succeedWe are seeking a local candidate from Townsville or Cairns who can work a 4/3 FIFO roster. You should be degree-qualified and eager to develop and grow your experience within the mining sector. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong knowledge of large ERP systems such as Pronto or SAP are essential. You must have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
