Vocational Bible College (VBC) is an interdenominational, reformed, evangelical organisation that began in 2015 with the goal to raise up more 'everyday*' Christian disciple-makers and leaders for mainstream evangelical churches in Australia.
The training began in Sydney but has grown to encompass training centres based in Wagga Wagga (NSW), Perth (WA), Illawarra (NSW) and online (National/ International).
*By 'everyday' we mean those who have gone straight into the workforce from school with or without formal training.
What's the role?Migrant Trainer & Assessor Initially, the purpose of this role is to liaise with local migrant church leaders and members, in their contexts, to build relationships and partnerships that supports everyday Christians' learning.
This includes building and strengthening networked relationships with mentors in different partner churches.
You will then have the responsibility to develop, prepare, deliver, assess and evaluate the training programs of VBC for local migrant church leaders and members.
What will you be doing?Initially:
Initiating relationships by reaching out to potential partner churches to facilitate new training partnerships.
Strengthening relationships through proactively building, developing and strengthening relationships with existing partners.
Teaching the Bible as outlined in VBC courses and in line with VBC's doctrinal statement.
Completing and maintaining all training records.
Liaising with learner's workplace mentors to monitor crossover between classroom training and workplace training.
Proactively reviewing VBC courses, participating in course review processes and developing content.
Providing pastoral care for learners, creating supportive structures and maintaining confidentiality.
Continuing to promote VBC to churches and parties, and reporting to the VBC Principal.
Who are we looking for?Committed Christian, Church member, and able to fully support the VBC Mission & Vision and doctrinal statement.
Evangelistic in approach and in agreement with the VBC philosophy of ministry.
Advanced Diploma of Christian Ministry & Theology, or equivalent.
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or equivalent.
Commitment to the Scriptures as the authoritative word of God.
Proven ability in training and assessment, teaching, preaching and organisation.
Prior experience leading in a church environment.
A person able to communicate and resonate with people from migrant communities within Australia.
A confident and well organised person able to make first contact, to follow up contacts, travel and plan itineraries.
Skilled in the use of electronic equipment beneficial to teaching, leading and making presentations.
Knowledge of contemporary Christian Ministry philosophies and practices amongst everyday Christians.
Experience working and ministering with Everyday People.
Travel and communications allowance.
1-2 days per week role, with potential for more in future.
Responsible and autonomous newly created role.
Supportive environment with at least one monthly meeting (online or in person) with the Principal.
