This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of a teacher as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students can be required individually or in groups up to 4 in controlled circumstances and where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years can be required at this level (noting that Registered Nurse is not included at this level, the first level for which is Level 1 range 3).
A role at this range may include:
Specific support tasks to achieve outcomes. Typically, this will involve accountability for a single function, (e.g. ensuring data is properly maintained) or the coordination of a work area under the direction of the principal or a manager.Assisting teachers, within an educational program, by undertaking specific support tasks or the coordination of the support function.Supervised health and wellbeing support tasks, medical intervention support tasks, or other specialised student/teacher support roles (e.g. enrolled nurses performing the role as described in schedule 3). These roles require specific qualifications and/or training, including roles where further training must be undertaken from time to time. The role is for a specific purpose, for which there will be direct accountability as opposed to support roles that are carried out by a range of staff performing routine tasks under direction.Technical tasks that require a sound knowledge of basic technical and/or scientific principles that are used to develop and adapt work methods and make judgements where there are clear guidelines and limited options. Routine technical support in libraries, science, and information technology would be typical examples.ResponsibilitiesGeneral Work Description This key position is administrative support for Middle School Leaders within the College, located in the Middle School Office. The role has many and varied duties and requires someone who has an ability to adapt, to work as part of a team, to take initiative, while being able to support and direct Middle School as required.
Experience in the management of a very busy school office is required. The position requires knowledge and skills in the use of Compass, word processing, and other applications such as Excel, Publisher, and Outlook.
Customer Service Provide excellent customer service to Middle School staff, Middle School students, and visitors to the College for Middle School purposes.
Provide straightforward advice and/or handling of customer/supplier/visitor/staff enquiries, over the phone or in person.
Communicate effectively and positively with members of the Middle School community including students, staff, and parents/carers.
Provide support or care to students where necessary and communicate with relevant stakeholders ¿ staff and parents/carers.
Under the direction of the Business Manager and Middle School Leaders, coordinate, organise and determine work priorities within the Middle School area to ensure the efficient operation to meet accountability requirements according to Department of Education (DE) Procedures and Guidelines and agreed College Procedures.
List of jobs/tasks to be the responsibility of the Middle Years Student Support Assistant Under the direction of the Business Manager, Principal Team and/or Middle School Leaders, all tasks need to be followed in accordance with our College Processes, in a timely manner.
This is a key role. The Middle Years Student Support Assistant is responsible for accurate attendance data.
Ensure all attendance is processed accurately for Middle School students.Liaise with teachers regarding accuracy of student attendance records e.g. Class rolls.Manage all Middle School students signing in and out (e.g. medical appointment, Duke of Ed).Generate, correct, edit and forward Daily attendance reports to House Leaders for action.Ensure all absences have documentation either parental/medical.Monitor students with late attendance weekly and follow College guidelines in dealing with this.Issue warning for late students and advise the House Leader of these and when detentions are required for Years 7-9.All actions given in relation to attendance are recorded on Compass via Chronicle (late warnings, whole day absences).Meet with House Leaders to discuss attendance concerns (irregular or frequent absences).Flag any students who are at risk of breaching attendance requirements.Follow up students who fail to sign in/out with relevant House Leader.Follow-up detention attendance for Years 7-9 and liaise with Middle School Leaders.General Duties This is a key role and integral in providing support to the Middle School of the College.
Answering and attending all phone and general enquiries for the Middle School office staff.Handle all enquiries relating to Years 7-9 Middle School students.Assist in the organisation of House events as directed by the Heads of School.Undertake bulk mail out correspondence for Middle School students and families.Provide administrative assistance and organisation as directed by the Heads of School and Assistant Principal for various Middle School Programs.Responsible to:
