Role overview The Vaccines Policy Manager will be responsible for leading policy and public affairs activities in support of ANZ's vaccines portfolio. This role requires the ability to build relationships with government stakeholders, shape the external environment, and engage in the policy-making process to ensure the timely availability of vaccines and to drive improvements in the policy landscape in ANZ. The successful candidate will have proven experience in policy, exceptional stakeholder management skills, a strong understanding of the policy environment in Australia, and the ability to work collaboratively with the Business Unit, Public Affairs Department, and senior leadership.
What will you do: Develop and implement a comprehensive vaccines policy strategy: Lead the development and implementation of a cohesive vaccines policy strategy aligned with business objectives. Monitor and analyse policy developments and trends related to vaccines at the national and state and territory levels. Identify opportunities and risks in the policy landscape and develop strategies to influence policy outcomes aligned with priorities. Build relationships with key stakeholders: Establish and maintain relationships with policy and political stakeholders, including government officials, professional associations, patient advocacy groups, and relevant industry organisations. Engage with key influencers and decision-makers to shape the policy agenda and advocate for priorities. Act as a spokesperson for ANZ on vaccines policy matters, representing the company's interests in external meetings, conferences, and events. Engage in the policy-making process: Participate in relevant policy forums, consultations, and working groups to provide input and influence the development of vaccines-related policies. Collaborate with internal teams, including the Vaccines Business Unit and senior leadership, to align policy positions with business priorities. Monitor and interpret policy changes and implications for vaccines portfolio, providing timely updates and recommendations to internal stakeholders. Enhance reputation as a leader in vaccines: Develop and implement initiatives to build reputation as a trusted and influential partner in vaccines. Proactively engage in thought leadership activities, including participating in conferences, and contributing to policy research and analysis. Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging trends in vaccines policy, sharing knowledge and insights within the organization. What should you have: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. Advanced degree preferred. Proven experience in vaccines policy or related fields, preferably in a pharmaceutical or healthcare industry setting. Excellent understanding of the vaccines policy environment in Australia, including the National Immunisation Program (NIP) and relevant regulatory frameworks. Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with policy and political stakeholders at various levels. Exceptional communication and advocacy skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex policy issues to diverse audiences. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to achieve shared goals. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify policy opportunities and risks and devise effective strategies. Knowledge of the healthcare landscape in Australia, including key stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and policy influencers. Ability to adhere to the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct as well as other compliance requirements.
