The Merchant Services Architect collaborates with cross-functional teams to create robust solutions that meet business needs.
Responsibilities: Develop and maintain a deep understanding of merchant acquiring processes, including transaction flows, settlement, and reconciliation.
Design end-to-end solutions for merchant onboarding, payment processing, and settlement.
Ensure compliance with payment schemes (e.g., Visa, Mastercard) and industry standards (PCI DSS, EMV).
Evaluate existing system architecture related to merchant services.
Propose enhancements and optimizations to improve efficiency and reliability.
Consider integration with other banking systems (e.g., core banking, CRM).
Security and Fraud Prevention: Implement secure communication channels (SSL/TLS) and access controls.
Collaborate with security teams to implement fraud detection mechanisms.
Leverage technologies like machine learning models and rule-based systems.
Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to gather requirements.
Communicate effectively to bridge technical and business perspectives.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience (typically 5+ years) defining solutions for merchant acquiring within a financial institution.
Knowledge of payment protocols (e.g., ISO 8583) and industry trends.
Familiarity with cloud-based architectures and microservices.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
