About the facility Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong's CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.
About the service Barwon Health's Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol Service (MHDAS) provides integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families and identified support network.
About the role The Senior Occupational Therapist (OT) Grade 3 position will form part of a therapeutic, multidisciplinary team, providing leadership and consumer recovery focused care based on evidence based practice. The Senior OT role will also commit to the delivery of Occupational Therapy services that are responsive to the individual needs of consumers and carers, as well as contribute to the planning and delivery of the therapeutic group program for all consumers of the Swanston Centre acute inpatient unit.
Key functions include:
Screening and prioritising OT referrals and conduct OT specific assessments and interventionsContribute to the coordination, evaluation and support to the multidisciplinary facilitated therapeutic group programLead the utilisation, assessment and practice of sensory assessments, interventions and groups for supporting consumers individual sensory modulation while also contributing to the reduction of restrictive practices in mental health careContribute leadership skills and input to the multidisciplinary treatment teams for the planning of discharge of consumers with complex support needsProvide professional supervision and support to OT staff and students of Swanston Centre and MHDASAbout the culture You will have the opportunity to be part of a highly skilled, professional and dedicated team who take pride in providing high quality services.
