Job Title: Senior Scientist A full time senior position within the Central Automated Laboratory at Launceston Pathology covering all aspects of Haematology and Biochemistry.
The role will include evenings, weekends and public holidays as rostered, as well as participation in the on-call roster and after hours support.
We are seeking an experienced, proficient, motivated and highly organised Senior Scientist to provide support to the Department Supervisor in all aspects of analytical quality assurance and team management.
Selection Criteria A minimum of 5 years laboratory experience as a Medical Scientist with recent experience in at least 1 area of biochemistry, haematology, coagulation, or immunohaematology. Appropriately qualified with a Degree in Applied Science (MLS), Biomedical Science or recognised equivalent. Professional membership of the AIMS, AACB or other relevant professional organisation. Highly developed computer literacy and experience with LIS development. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. Experience in operating and troubleshooting modern automated technology. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Knowledge of quality assurance systems and laboratory accreditation requirements. A good understanding of and commitment to WH&S policy and practice. Commitment to ongoing professional development and training. Previous supervisory or team leadership experience will be considered an advantage. An advanced understanding of quality control management and review. Must be able to live and work permanently in Australia at the time of application.
