About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to work closely with General Practitioners (GPs) and pharmacies, providing expert knowledge about Cann's medicinal cannabis products. The MSL plays a pivotal role in building strong professional relationships with GPs and pharmacists to ensure they are well-informed about our products and understand their clinical value. This is a field-based role requiring excellent communication, scientific expertise, and a passion for advancing patient care. The focus of this role is to identify and build the KOL and prescriber landscape for the first time. This position will cross multiple disease states and specialties and will be breaking new ground in Australia. This role would suit someone with excellent communication skills, the ability to understand what is needed across each prescriber group, and the will and drive to build a path rather than follow it.
This role reports directly to the Head of Commercial and is based in Melbourne with the flexibility to work remotely.
As a Medical Science Liaison, you will
Identify, build, and maintain relationships with General Practitioners, Pharmacies, KOLs, and internal and external stakeholders.
Build advocacy within the medical and primary care community for Cann Group and Medical Cannabis.
Serve as an education resource for healthcare providers on disease state concepts, including providing effective presentations to groups, and participating in 1:1 discussions, tailoring discussions to meet specific needs.
Respond to unsolicited requests for information on clinical data and act as the primary medical education resource.
Keep abreast of changes in industry trends that could impact prescribing and clinician needs.
Contribute to the development and execution of an HCP engagement plan.
Profile the medical and primary care landscape and continuously update this knowledge, including expertise in products, patient treatment trends, clinical trials, etc.
Ensure awareness of current key topics and questions, and proactively contribute insights gained from HCP interactions to the internal team.
About you
Qualifications / Licences
Tertiary Qualification in Life Sciences or related field.
Pre-employment Security and Health screening.
Experience
Previous experience working as an MSL and/or in a customer-facing role in pharma/biotech / medical tech.
Proven ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with General Practitioners (GPs) and pharmacies is essential.
Skills / Competencies
Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with GPs, Pharmacies, internal and external stakeholders.
Strong communication skills, written and oral, and presentation skills.
Passionate, innovative, autonomous, adaptable, and tenacious.
At least 3 years of proven experience and achievement in a similar role within a demanding industry environment.
Prior experience in the Cannabis industry or a related field involving Schedule 8 (S8) or specialised medical products.
Demonstrated success in building and managing strong customer relationships, with tenacity and resilience to excel in a competitive market.
Background in healthcare, especially in launching new products; experience in a similar role is highly valued.
Proficient in customer analysis with a track record of translating insights into effective strategies.
Extensive experience in business development and customer negotiations.
Strong commercial acumen with a focus on relationship management and exceptional customer service.
Full driver's license – flexibility with traveling interstate if required.
