About the Role Reporting to the Closure Manager, the Medical & Safety Officer is responsible for the provision of an efficient medical service, for all site personnel, and in the event of injury or illness, provide immediate high-quality care at DeGrussa Copper Mine during Care and Maintenance and Closure. This role supports the Closure Manager with execution of HSE compliance and mine closure activities. The position is based on a 12-month fixed-term contract, located at our DeGrussa Copper Mine, 150km north of Meekatharra, on a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off roster rotation.
Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to): Ensure the effective operation of the site medical facility, ensuring adequate first aid and treatment resources are available at all times. Maintain the site ambulances and ER vehicles in a state of readiness through daily, weekly checks and maintenance schedules. Provide 24 hours/day coverage for medical treatment (night shift on call for emergencies only). Ensure all medical records are documented and filed according to site, legal and medical requirements. Maintain the site's Emergency Management and Recovery Plan & manuals. Review Emergency Response Plans submitted by Contractors for asset removal and closure activities. Ensure all in-service emergency response equipment is available, in date for test, maintained and appropriate for all perceived emergency response risks identified. Execute care and maintenance activities on site as per instructions from the Closure Manager. Complete HSE compliance activities in accordance with the schedule, including field inspections, field readings, collection of water samples, weed removal, equipment calibration. Provide input to the DeGrussa Closure and Care and Maintenance risk registers. Participate in compliance auditing and assurance (where required). About You 5+ years' experience medical background/medic (industrial), some of which will have been gained in the mining industry. Current minimum competency Certificate IV in Pre-Hospital Care (Ambulance), Diploma or higher qualification preferred. C class manual drivers' licence. Knowledge of HSEC Procedures and their implementation, with a commitment to working safely. Good oral and written communication skills. Prioritisation and time management across multiple tasks. Excellent attitude and commitment to safety. Proactive and display initiative, essential. Problem solving skills, essential. Planning and organising, essential. Microsoft Office software competency.
