Royal Darwin Hospital is the tertiary referral centre for the Top End of the Northern Territory. The Infectious Diseases Unit provides an inpatient, consults and outpatient infectious disease service as well as oversight to the Hospital in the Home and the Viral Hepatitis Services. It also supports the Infection Control, Antimicrobial Stewardship and COVID response programs within the hospital. The Department currently has 15 Physicians contributing to the service and has strong links with the Territory Pathology Microbiology Laboratory, The NT Centre for Disease Control, and Menzies School of Health Research.

We have 3 core Infectious Diseases Registrar positions and one Public Health Registrar position based with the NT Centre for Disease Control that can be accredited for non-core training. There are also opportunities to combine rotations with general medicine and/or microbiology.
