Medical Officer Class 4

The TGA is looking to fill several positions for medical practitioners to assess therapeutic goods and decide on the registration of prescription medicines for Australia. Internationally recognised for their work standards, TGA employees are also often involved in collaboration with overseas regulators. The key duties of the position include
Major responsibilities of the role include: Work at an executive level standard with a high level of autonomy across a broad scope of regulatory assessment, safety evaluation, program responsibility and management;Make timely and high quality decisions on the registration or variation to the registration of prescription medicines and the scheduling of medicines, including where necessary identification of any areas of clinical uncertainty in medicine applications and safety evaluations;Support the Director in the functioning and management of the section;May be required to lead and manage a small team of medical officers and clinical assessors;Evaluate clinical data and provide recommendations or advice on medicines or biologicals.Provide training and support to other medical and professional officers on regulatory science, clinical medicine, clinical pharmacology, or clinical epidemiology;Contribute to the development and revision of technical and administrative procedures and documentation within the Branch and TGA as a whole, including contributing to new policy and work process reforms and on the adoption of regulatory guidelines;Effectively partner and collaborate with key external stakeholder groups;Seek advice on matters of concern from TGA's specialist advisory committeesActively engage with and collaborate with international regulators through work-sharing, collaborative review and information sharing activities, which may include infrequent attendance at meetings outside Australian business hours ; andCoach and guide junior Medical Officers and pharmacists.
