The Medical Management Specialist is critical in managing and coordinating medical care for injured workers within a self-insured environment. This position requires a strong understanding of workers' compensation processes, medical terminology, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including healthcare providers, case managers, and injured workers.

Key Responsibilities: Medical Case Management:
Oversee injured workers' medical treatment and rehabilitation, ensuring that care is appropriate and aligns with regulatory requirements. Communication and Coordination:
Serve as the liaison between injured workers, healthcare providers, and case managers. Facilitate communication to ensure timely and effective treatment. Utilisation Review:
Conduct reviews of medical treatment plans and services to ensure they are medically necessary and compliant with established guidelines. Data Analysis and Reporting:
Analyse medical data and claims information to identify trends, assess program effectiveness, and provide recommendations for improvements. Policy Development:
Assist in developing and implementing workers' compensation policies and procedures that enhance medical management and compliance. Education and Training:
Provide training and support to case managers on workers' compensation injury management practices, processes, rights, and responsibilities. Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all medical management practices comply with state and federal workers' compensation laws and regulations. Qualifications: Education:
Bachelor's degree in nursing, health administration, allied health, or a related field. A nursing degree or equivalent medical background is highly desirable. Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in workers' compensation, medical management, or a related healthcare field. Skills: Strong organisational and multitasking abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in medical terminology. Analytical skills for data interpretation and reporting.
