The Medical Management Specialist is critical in managing and coordinating medical care for injured workers within a self-insured environment.
This position requires a strong understanding of workers' compensation processes, medical terminology, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including healthcare providers, case managers, and injured workers.
Key Responsibilities: Medical Case Management:
Oversee injured workers' medical treatment and rehabilitation, ensuring that care is appropriate and aligns with regulatory requirements.Communication and Coordination:
Serve as the liaison between injured workers, healthcare providers, and case managers.
Facilitate communication to ensure timely and effective treatment.Utilisation Review:
Conduct reviews of medical treatment plans and services to ensure they are medically necessary and compliant with established guidelines.Data Analysis and Reporting:
Analyse medical data and claims information to identify trends, assess program effectiveness, and provide recommendations for improvements.Policy Development:
Assist in developing and implementing workers' compensation policies and procedures that enhance medical management and compliance.Education and Training:
Provide training and support to case managers on workers' compensation injury management practices, processes, rights, and responsibilities.Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all medical management practices comply with state and federal workers' compensation laws and regulations.Qualifications: Education:
Bachelor's degree in nursing, health administration, allied health, or a related field.
A nursing degree or equivalent medical background is highly desirable.Experience:
