Job Description The Position
Reporting to the Emergency Response Specialist, the Medical Emergency Service Officer will fill a key support role as the Kemerton Lithium Processing Plant moves into operations. The role will support the Emergency Response Specialist as Operations develops and trains the ERT. They will be able to provide first response out of hours coverage 24/7. They will be able to coordinate and support newly trained personnel to develop the confidence to work autonomously in assessment, out of hours medical issues under the medical centre treatment protocols and poisons permit. As a member of the HSET team, you will work with the Operations team to build operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities Respond to site emergencies maintaining a state of operational readiness at all times. On-site medical attendance at incident scenes with Emergency Response Teams (ERT), to assist, stabilise or treat a casualty. The provision of First Aid Treatment, Basic and Advanced Emergency Medical Care and Basic Primary Healthcare out of hours. Providing a summary of all out of hours treatments to Occupational Health Nurse and liaise directly with them as required for support and advice. Driving of site ambulance as/when required. Weekly inspections of ambulance, fire truck, equipment and facilities and the accurate maintenance of records. Maintenance of stock levels and records for consumables in the ambulance and fire truck. Maintenance of all necessary documents and records for efficient functioning of clinic and delivery of healthcare services including, but not limited to, individual medical records and clinic attendance/utilisation data. Work within their scope of competence with in medical poisons permit for medication administration. Provision of health & hygiene related awareness & information materials, including presentations to site workforce. Administration of drug and alcohol screening tests as and when directed, including sample collection, and screening where necessary. Including post incident out of hours testing. Assist in the development and delivery of training to all ERT members. Assisting in the planning and coordination of, and participate in, site emergency drills. Other duties related to the provision of health and safety activities as appropriate. Work Experience / Technical Skill Requirements Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role in a mining, oil and gas, or heavy industry environment. Minimum 2 years' experience in Emergency Response and Rescue. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Proactive and self-motivated. Ability to work effectively as a part of a diverse team. Education / Qualification Requirements Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue with substantial experience. Certificate IV in Healthcare essential. Drug and Alcohol Testing trained (Authorised DAS Collection Officer) essential. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment would be beneficial.
