Permanent part-time opportunity available (3 days/week) to: Join a team of enthusiastic medical doctors in an organisation that is passionate about contributing to a world-class health system in NSW An exciting opportunity for an experienced medical practitioner to apply their non-clinical skills in medical regulation Be a part of an organisation that is committed to providing resources, training, and support for your career development This role is primarily located in Gladesville, with peaceful, leafy surrounds and free parking available onsite.About this role The Medical Advisor works collaboratively with the Medical Director as the source of medical advice for the provision of high level, authoritative, professional medical expertise and support to the Council and staff in relation to complaints about the conduct, performance and/or health of medical practitioners in NSW and medical practitioners in NSW who are subject to compliance monitoring.The Medical Advisor leads and manages projects and provides expert advice to formulate strategic and innovative solutions.
The Medical Advisor also oversees the development, review and evaluation of programs, policies, business and process improvement projects and risk management activities to enhance and achieve the Council's and HPCA's objectives and functions, including management of relationships with key stakeholder groups.This role is a great opportunity for an experienced medical practitioner to apply their regulatory skills including how complaints are assessed and how practitioners with complaints are managed in a co-regulatory system.
This role will allow you to foster your clinical advice and stakeholder engagement skills by applying your understanding of non-clinical medicine while working alongside an enthusiastic team of medical doctors.

About YouThe successful candidate will have: Registration as a medical practitioner At least 5 years' experience out of a fellowship with a specialty medical college is preferred Demonstrated experience working as a medical practitioner combined with a thorough understanding of the working environment of a variety of practice types in the Australian health care system such as a hospital or general practice Extensive expertise and up-to-date knowledge of current clinical practice standards, clinical governance and contemporary medical ethics.
