Where the team fits in The Media Relations Specialist role will sit in the media team within Content & Growth as part of the Product and Audience Division. However, the media team works with all parts of the business, with a specific focus on the growth of REA Group's data arm PropTrack, through targeted public relations strategies. The Media Relations Specialist will report into and work closely with the Media & Partnerships Manager.
What the role is all about Our goal is to become the undisputed authority on the Australian property market in the eyes of consumers and the media. As Media Relations Specialist, you will support in creating and executing our public relations and media strategy, while forging deep relationships across the Australian media landscape.
You will play an integral role in media outreach and engagement on reports, analysis and bespoke pitches for REA Group's data business PropTrack. You will work seamlessly with teams across the business to conceive, develop and execute engaging stories in the media, including writing media pitches and media releases.
In addition, you'll support in managing all property data-related media requests into the business and will work with our economists and analysts to coordinate a timely and comprehensive response.
Relationships are at the heart of this role, and as Media Relations Specialist, growing and maintaining strong relationships with reporters and producers from all major newsrooms around the country will be key.
Internally, this role will work with stakeholders across PropTrack as well as REA Group's full house of brands, including realcommercial.com.au, Mortgage Choice and Flatmates.com.au, to deliver on the group's strategic objectives via the media.
Who we're looking for A bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing Communications, or something similar.Minimum 2 years' experience in a fast-paced communications/public relations environment.Strong relationship management skills and previous experience working with multiple stakeholders at all levels of seniority, including media.Ability to find engaging media hooks, write pitches and work directly with reporters to create interesting stories.Experience leveraging research or data and is able to look at numbers or complex concepts and turning them into simple and engaging narratives for media is ideal.Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, navigating multiple deadlines and stakeholders.Has strong writing skills with the ability to switch between writing styles and write media releases and pitches at a fast pace.A team player with integrity, professionalism, pride and resilience.
