This is our promise to the Victorian community and the reason we exist.Ongoing, Full TimeGeelong Headquarters (Hybrid, 3 days office attendance per week)About the positionWorkSafe's media team promotes workplace health and safety, recovery and return to work and protects WorkSafe's brand and reputation in the media.The Media Officer assists in preparing and implementing strategies to promote a large range of media campaigns and activities. The Media Officer is required to develop an in-depth understanding of occupational health and safety matters and workers' compensation issues in order to help the media team deliver effective media monitoring and analysis, government and stakeholder relations, and corporate communications. Key accountabilities include:Assisting with the implementation of WorkSafe's media strategy.Playing a key role in the monitoring of print, electronic and social media and provision of media analysis to internal clients.Responding to media inquiries, issues and data requests by liaising with all levels of the organisation to ensure information is accurate and appropriate.Under the guidance of the Media Manager, researching and writing communication materials.Developing an in-depth understanding of WorkSafe issues, events and activities and ensure key messages are consistent with WorkSafe's business objectives.Liaising with government and external stakeholders in relation to the preparation and management of a range of WorkSafe media activities (e.g. external media releases).Responding to external stakeholders and media with high levels of complexity, uncertainty and risk.To be considered for this position, you will demonstrate the following:Experience working in, or closely with, news media will be highly regarded.Sound knowledge of the Victorian media landscape and media operations.Strong organisational skills, with the demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise work and meet prescribed deadlines.Close attention to detail and a passion for accuracy.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to work as part of a team and to develop and maintain strong working relationships.Demonstrated ability to work under extreme time pressure with changing priorities.What's next?Applications close at 11:00pm on Wednesday 13th November 2024.
