Details of the offer

The Role:
As a Media Manager, you will be joining a busy branch, leading a team of media and public affairs professionals.
You will respond to media enquiries and plan for major announcements and activities – a mix of reactive and proactive media activities.
A large part of this role is to work with stakeholders and form genuine relationships with members across the Department to support ongoing needs and quick turnaround timeframes.
This position is a mix of both hands-on and leadership tasks, and you must be willing to 'jump on the tools' – this is not an exclusive management position.
For existing permanent EL1's in the APS, a permanent transfer is open for discussion.
For existing permanent APS6's, you
must
have demonstrated acting EL1 experience to be considered.
Private sector applicants with strong media experience are welcomed and encouraged to apply.
It's important to note that rostered after-hours work, including on weekends, is required.
Allowances and overtime rates apply and will be paid accordingly.
Role Responsibilities:
Field incoming media enquiries and work with key staff to develop appropriate responses, including arranging media interviews.
Prepare media alerts and media releases as required.
Provide material to the media as required, including photographs, film, and background information.
Manage visiting media onsite, including documentary crews.
Monitor and report on media coverage.
Eligibility and How to Apply:
To be eligible for this position, you must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
A baseline security clearance is required for this opportunity, and if not already held, you must be prepared and able to undertake this process at the point of offer.
The Department is prepared to sponsor and maintain a clearance for the suitable applicant.
To apply for this position, please click 'apply now' and upload a simple version of your CV.
A cover letter is optional.
For a confidential discussion, feel free to reach out to Tanisha on ******.
Diversity and Inclusion:
We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds, experiences, and identities.
We are committed to fostering an inclusive work environment that celebrates diversity and ensures equal opportunities for all.
Your unique perspective and talents are valuable to us, and we encourage you to apply.
