An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic individual to fill a full-time ongoing position of Media and Communications Officer for the Federal Member for Dawson, Andrew Willcox MP, based in Mackay, Queensland 4740.The successful applicant will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to establish professional relationships with key stakeholders across Dawson as well as local and national media.This role would suit someone with proven experience in journalism, communications and/or marketing, and who is excited by the opportunity of serving their community.The key duties of the position are, but are not limited to:Developing communications/marketing plansDrafting media releases and electorate communications materialManaging social mediaEnhancing the Member's social media presenceManaging the Member's websiteLiaising with local and national journalists, and organising proactive media opportunitiesPreparing speech notes for local eventsPreparing speeches for parliamentary commitments and legislationDeveloping and managing advertising campaigns through traditional and online media, including video contentPhotography/videography at eventsMedia monitoringPreparing the Member's newsletterTravelling throughout the electorate and to Canberra for parliamentary sittings when requiredAssisting with electorate events and activities as neededThe ideal applicant should possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience:A tertiary qualification in journalism, communications, public relations and/or marketing, with work experience in a related role will be highly regardedThe capability to provide strategic media and communications adviceExcellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to develop concise, targeted messages to reach various audiencesKnowledge of and experience with social media platforms and engagement strategiesHighly developed attention to detail and design, ensuring messages and published content are accurate and professionalOrganisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks to meet tight deadlinesA keen interest in and/or understanding of Australian government and the parliamentary processPhotography/videography skillsGraphic design and video editing experience, especially with the Adobe Creative Suite, will be highly regarded.Employment conditions:The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-23 which include:A commencing salary between $81,666 and $83,179 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skillsAn additional optional allowance of between $12,907 and $27,963 may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of workAn employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payableAn initial probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.Applications setting out details of experience and the name of two referees can be forwarded to or for any questions, please contact the office manager, Tamara on .Applications close on Monday 7 October 2024.#J-18808-Ljbffr
