Fixed Term Opportunity - 12 months Newcastle location Reporting to the Director Environment and Community and as an integral member of this team, this role forms part of the Australian communications function with a focus on corporate reputation management across Glencore Coal Assets Australia (GCAA), and the delivery of an integrated media and communications, corporate brand and issues management strategy across multiple mining operations in NSW and Queensland.
The role includes external and internal communications; issues management; crisis communications; and brand management.
Your accountabilities will include the development and implementation of a proactive external relations strategy to build positive external brand awareness across multiple media platforms, input into communications strategies for GCAA initiatives, develop and maintain relationships with relevant regional and local media.
Other duties include overseeing the delivery of internal communications to facilitate cross-division understanding, providing regular updates on mining operations, projects, and business initiatives, and coordinating the regular supply of GCAA content for a variety of Australian internal communications channels.
You will work closely with numerous internal teams, including in the areas of health and safety; environment and community; operations; tax; legal; finance; marketing; project development; procurement and logistics.
You will also work with the Regional Corporate Affairs team on the development of positions on key issues related to our company and industry.
Other responsibilities include working with the NSW Minerals Council on key industry issues and leading GCAA crisis communications.
We are seeking a competent professional with 10+ years of professional multi-disciplined communications experience, who can provide professional, effective leadership with the necessary communication skills as well as having:
Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated experience in media management, communications, issues & reputation management, public & community relations;Previous experience in the Mining Industry and/or with large organisations; with solid understanding of commercial and business operations;Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills within a dynamic team environment;A strategic and process-driven approach to communication planning and execution;Previous experience of successful crisis communications management;Familiarity with environmental legislation; andDemonstrated experience in digital media strategy, planning & execution.Applications close Friday 3 January 2024
