Penrith City Council is a large and growing local council based in Western Sydney, at the foothills of the Blue Mountains. It is one of the larger metropolitan Councils in Sydney, spanning an area of 404km2, with a population of around 194,000 residents. Substantial growth is expected across the Penrith area, following the upcoming Western Sydney Airport, greater access to key transportation links and increased investment into the area.

The Role

The Media and Communications Advisor provides timely, expert, day-to-day support and advice to the Mayor, Deputy Mayor or Mayoral delegate on Council's projects, programs and matters. This position works alongside a Public Affairs Officer and reports into the Public Affairs Manager. This small team sits within the Future Directions & Resilience directorate and manages public interest issues and reputation. This role ensures the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, or Mayoral delegate is informed, concisely briefed, and supported in their communications.
