The Opportunity We are seeking a Media and Communications Advisor to join our team. In this role, you will drive positive media and communications outcomes for one of the fastest growing areas in Australia. You will be responsible for enhancing the reputation of Council through strategic and responsive media and communications initiatives.
A confident writer, you will communicate organisational key messages to a broad audience through a range of channels, while juggling multiple projects and tight deadlines. Initiative, sound judgement and a positive attitude are also critical to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities Provide media and issues management through various methods including public relations and media relations.Develop a positive and proactive relationship with all levels of the media, including local and metropolitan media agencies to facilitate positive, fair and accurate coverage of Melton City Council.Responsible for the planning and coordination of media and communication activities within Melton City Council.Develop and implement effective communication plans which assist with the successful delivery or management of Melton City Council projects, services, programs and issues.Corporate writing including media releases and speeches.Manage design and production of publications, brochures and other promotional material.About you To be successful in this role you will have the following: Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, media or relevant discipline with several years of subsequent relevant experience or lesser formal qualification and substantial experience.Highly developed journalistic skills and ability to provide sound media relations and communications advice to enhance the image of Council.A high level of attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to develop positive relationships with key stakeholders, including the Executive Leadership Team and Councillors.Experience developing and executing effective communications and advocacy campaigns.Culture and Values Our vision for our community is to be: "A vibrant, safe and liveable city accessible to all" and that means there's a place here for you too.
