Media Advisor Parramatta Square/Hybrid 9 month Secondment Clerk Grade 7/8 - $106,025 - $117,363 + Super Your role The Media Advisor coordinates and delivers media strategies and activities to support Homes NSW manage its relationship with media outlets and develop policies, strategies, plans and programs.
It's an opportunity for someone who thinks broadly, can build great relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and possesses excellent communication skills. Media experience, whether that be working in the media previously or in media management is preferred.
What you'll do As part of the Homes NSW Partnerships and Communications media team you will work with a group of passionate and highly skilled media experts, adept at managing emerging issues in a politically sensitive environment.
We operate in a 24/7 news environment so some after hours and on-call work is required on a rotating basis, this includes the occasional weekend. There is also some travel required as part of this role to support Homes NSW at media events and content capturing opportunities.
This role supports a working from home lifestyle and requires a minimum in-office attendance of once per month. You will stay connected with your colleagues by having regular touch points via online meetings and video calls.
What we're looking for You'll be required to:
Prepare and issue proactive media materials, including media strategies, media releases, media statements, and mitigation strategies. Manage reactive media issues and enquiries by researching and preparing media statements and responses while working to tight deadlines. Coordinate event management preparations for major media announcements to ensure media strategy objectives are met. Create and edit content for use in a range of channels including for media packs, social media, website, and internal comms. Monitor and report on media trends and issues to provide recommendations for management of identified risks. Liaise and network with a range of service providers, including internal stakeholders, to deliver high-quality communications that are relevant and meaningful to a range of audiences. Provide support to wider media and comms team. Essential Requirements: Previous experience in a newsroom or media management environment is essential. This role requires the availability for occasional on-call and out-of-hours work. This will include participation in an on-call roster, typically one week every 4-5 weeks, covering 24-hour periods, including weekends. The role has an expectation of working in the office at least one day per month (usually a Wednesday), or as needed for press conferences or interviews.
