There is a requirement that you must have the flexibility to travel statewide as issues arise and at short notice, as well as the ability to meet strict deadlines to deliver media communications, manage events and initiatives. This role requires 24/7 availability to handle unscheduled media coverage.Your key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:Execute NRMA's broad campaign strategy and generate extensive media coverage for NRMA's advocacy, with a focus on regional, industry and metropolitan mediaIdentify and execute proactive and reactive media opportunities for NRMA's advocacy issuesProvide executive communications support through speech writing and feature writing for internal and external publicationsReact and respond to external media interest by devising key messages and brief spokespeople in order to maintain and enhance positive brand valuesBuild and maintain effective relationships with key media for the purpose of generating positive media coverage for NRMAAdvise NRMA Business managers on media communications issues by attending briefing and planning sessions, researching and drafting materials, providing editorial support and developing communications strategiesProvide extra support to the Media Team to execute advocacy and corporate communications goals when necessary.What You'll BringTertiary qualifications in communication and/or equivalent relevant experience5+ years' proven experience in print & media, corporate affairs and politicsDemonstrated success in an organisational communications role, ideally within a large and complex organisation experiencing significant changeProven editorial experience of media communicationsProven experience of managing multiple stakeholders concurrently on a range of issuesExperience of managing competing interests simultaneouslyProject management and time management skillsProven ability to deliver expert recommendations and successful media strategiesStrong interpersonal and influencing skills at all levels in businessProven effective strategic analysis, planning and advisory skills, combined with creative problem-solving skills, for delivering successful strategies, solutions and expert recommendations (desirable not essential)What's in it for you?At the NRMA we aren't just about discounts (although you do get these).
