The office of Luke Gosling OAM MP, Federal Member for Solomon is seeking applications for the full-time ongoing Media Adviser position, based in the Member's Electorate Office in Casuarina, NT.Position OverviewThis diverse role would suit a highly motivated individual with previous experience in a parliamentary and/or media and communications role.
The ideal applicant will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a sound knowledge of the parliamentary setting, and thrive in a fast-paced working environment.
Ideally, you have proven experience in journalism, media and communications, or digital media and design and a sound approach to stakeholder management and community engagement.Key duties of the role include:Development and implementation of the MP's media strategy.Provide expert and timely advice on priority, complex and sensitive media, communications and strategic matters.Preparation of electorate communications material and media releases and articles and liaison with media and portfolio stakeholders as required.Build and maintain strong working relationships with local media organisations and journalists.Daily media monitoring and management.Drive engagement of the office's digital plan through online channels.Research and preparation of speech notes for local events and parliamentary debates.Management of website and collateral.Travel within the electorate and to Canberra for parliamentary sitting periods may be required.Other duties as required.Key skills and experience:Experience in a journalism, media or marketing related role would be highly regarded, as would experience in government or political settings.A sound knowledge of government, politics, parliamentary processes, and the media landscape.Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to engage and communicate with a broad and diverse range of people.Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills with an ability to meet deadlines.High levels of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion.Experience in media liaison.Strong information management and organisational skills.Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a close-knit team to manage competing priorities.Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple and competing work tasks in a fast-paced working environment.Excellent oral and written communication skills with attention to detail.Social media skills including development of digital content.Well-developed understanding of web content management systems, social media platforms and graphic design programs.Employment conditions:The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-23 which include:A commencing salary will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills.An additional optional allowance may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements).An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.A probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check.How To ApplyIn your application, please include your resume with two contactable referees and a brief cover letter outlining your experience and skills.Applications should be sent to: ******#J-18808-Ljbffr
