As a Mechatronics Engineer at the Aerostructures Innovation Research Hub (AIR Hub), you will play a crucial role in advancing Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS) technology. You will be involved in groundbreaking projects focused on the development of innovative fixed-wing delivery drones for long-range transport across Australia's diverse and challenging landscapes.
In this dynamic role, you will collaborate with a team of experienced engineers, taking ownership of the UAS Command and Control (C2) functionality. Your passion for learning and growth will enable you to deepen your expertise in UAS while gaining a comprehensive understanding of their complexities and applications.
You will apply rigorous systems engineering methodologies to design sophisticated and efficient drone systems, with a particular emphasis on revolutionising logistics and connectivity in remote areas. Engaging with regulatory bodies will be a key part of your responsibilities, as you support the certification process to ensure our drone solutions are safe and reliable.
As a proactive communicator and collaborator, you will work closely with industry and research partners, as well as internal team members at Swinburne. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will have the opportunity to leverage your knowledge and skills in future projects, including those focused on hydrogen drone development.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
Experience in the design, build, and testing of small to medium (A high degree of competence in CAD (preferably SolidWorks), or similar tools within a collaborative configuration-controlled environment (PDM/PLM).Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tackling engineering challenges.Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.Experience in the production and management of electrical and/or mechanical product lifecycle management (PLM) and engineering drawings.Qualifications A Bachelor degree or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field with suitable experience.This position is open only to applicants who have work rights in Australia To Apply
