Position Summary We are currently seeking an experienced mechanical tradesperson operating on a variable roster supplementing the rostered shift employees reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor.
This position will perform efficient and effective maintenance across a variety of equipment to an engineering standard, ensuring safe and reliable operations at the Fremantle Terminal.
Variable Salaried Employees (VSEs) work a non-fixed roster to support the maintenance needs of the business and are guaranteed a minimum annual salary as set out in our Enterprise Agreement.
They must be reasonably available but have a degree of flexibility in deciding which shifts they are unavailable for work.
Key accountabilities Undertake repairs and refurbishment to required standard ensuring codes of practice are aligned.
Operate in compliance with safe work practices, Australian standards, Company procedures and policies.
Maintaining variety of equipment types including (but not limited to) ZPMC Quay Cranes, Hyster Top loader Forklifts and Kalmar Reachstackers, Terberg Trucks and Container Trailers.
Ability to undertake routine and repetitive maintenance activities.
Ensure equipment breakdowns are responded to and addressed in an appropriate time frame.
Undertake mechanical repairs and refurbishment to the required standard.
Conduct regular planned mechanical maintenance and repairs.
Source spare parts and technical information required to undertake maintenance and repair tasks.
Utilise the computerised maintenance system to source store stock and job card information.
Ensure the shift hand over is provided to the shift supervisor in a timely manner prior to the shift completion time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Successful completion of an apprenticeship in an appropriate trade qualification for example Mobile Plant Mechanical Fitter, Diesel Mechanic.
Experience as a tradesman/technician undertaking fault finding/diagnostics and mechanical repairs of heavy fixed plant and mobile fleet.
Previous experience in mechanical maintenance procedures in a workshop and/or heavy industrial environment.
An understanding and appreciation of equipment functionality and service requirements.
An understanding of manufacturers' specifications.
Competent with the use of maintenance management software applications.
High attention to detail and an excellent work ethic.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Safety critical attitude to work.
Ability to work irregular day/night shift engagements including weekends.
