Our Fixed Plant Mechanical teams are currently hiring Maintainers to fill permanent positions at our Newman Operations.
Working in a team of mechanical maintainers, and reporting to the Supervisor Fixed Plant Maintenance, you will be responsible for carrying out preventive, reactive, and planned maintenance tasks to support plant availability in the field.
With the support of a strong and proactive Management team, Engineers, Electricians, and all of BHP's resources, you have the ability to continually learn and develop in your career and make a difference to our operation.
These are residential roles based on even-time rosters (day & night shift).
In this role you will: Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility, and sustainable developmentMaintain a high profile in the promotion of safe working conditions and practices to ensure a safe working environmentUndertake preventative maintenance inspections in accordance with maintenance planning systems and recommend appropriate follow-up actionRepair and service fixed plant equipment, attend breakdowns, and maintain plant availabilityCollaborate to fault find equipment in breakdown situationsCarry out all activities within the whole-of-job scope, including pre-work, preparation of JHAs, and organizing materials, execution, testing, and completion of tasksEnsure operational discipline in 1SAP Work Management practices, from raising notifications to execution of Work Orders on both planned and unplanned situationsLocation In this residential role, you will be based in Newman, Western Australia on a lifestyle roster pattern.
You will be working at the closely located 'Mount Whaleback' mine site, which at more than five kilometres long and nearly 1.5 kilometres wide is the biggest single-pit open-cut iron ore mine in the world.
The 5,000 strong population of Newman enjoys well-established town facilities including a newly revitalised town centre and sporting facilities.
As a gateway to the Karijini national park, you will be in close proximity to spectacular gorges, water courses, and stunningly unique landscapes.
As this is a residential position, you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.
