About the role


We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join our team at the DGH Machine Shop in Paget. As the Mechanical Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair and overhaul of various fixed plant items in our workshop, ensuring that all work is completed, safely, to a high standard and in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:

Supervise a small team of mechanical fitters, providing guidance and support as required.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure that workshop activities are aligned with delivery timelines and customer requirements.
Estimate mechanical overhauls, repairs, and maintenance jobs within the business.
Oversee multiple jobs running in parallel, ensuring their safe delivery, on time and to a high standard.
Plan and schedule daily tasks, ensuring that work is completed within specified timeframes.
Procure any tooling and materials required to successfully complete mechanical tasks in the workshop.
Inspect equipment and machinery to identify maintenance and repair requirements.
Complete strip/assess reports and communicate/liaise with clients to achieve best possible outcomes.
Ensure that all work is completed to a high standard and in compliance with relevant safety standards.
Train and develop apprentices and tradesmen to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge required to perform their roles effectively.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to improve processes and procedures to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

Qualifications and Experience:

Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a mechanical maintenance role.
Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment.
Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a team of mechanical tradesmen and apprentices.
Excellent communication, verbal/written and interpersonal skills.
Basic skills with Microsoft office programs, Word, excel, outlook etc.
Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Demonstrated commitment to safety and compliance with relevant regulations.
