About the Role
Hastings Deering is on the hunt for a Mechanical Specialist to join our award-winning team in Mackay or Rockhampton reporting to our Maintenance and Engineering Manager- Dragline & Electric Rope Shovels. This is a Permanent, Monday to Friday role.
The key focus of this position is to provide support and direction to both internal and site based teams through technical Mechanical services for Draglines and Electric Rope Shovels.
As a Mechanical Specialist, you will:
Work collaboratively with stakeholders across all levels with provision of status reports
Provide on-site technical expertise to diagnose and repair advanced mechanical systems, ensuring work is completed to the correct equipment specifications
Ensure mechanical audit inspections align with OEM specifications and risk based decisions are accurate & prioritised correctly
Provide supervision support for customers major outages and shutdowns.
Assist with scope development, review and co-ordination of customers major asset mechanical component repairs & overhauls
Provide assistance to customer maintenance, reliability and improvement teams on improvement projects
Review costs of proposed mechanical repairs/upgrades and provide OEM support / information / on upgrades

About You
A successful teammate will have:
Demonstrated experience with mining maintenance activities on Draglines and Electric Rope Shovels
Trade qualified Mechanical / Fitter and or tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering desirable
Proven ability in developing strategies, budgets and workscopes for repairs & upgrades
Experience in supervision and quality control of repairs undertaken including third party management
Positive attitude to developing the business through a team approach
Well-developed customer and communication skills
