Reporting to the Maintenance Crew Leader for your team, your role may involve: Maintaining mechanical assets across the smelter, focused on unplanned breakdown or plant limiting work, troubleshooting and problem-solving equipment failures and improving reliability Identifying defects and providing feedback on asset performance and health Confined space and working at heights activities Working autonomously, being reliable and positively contributing to the maintenance team, understanding the requirement to maintain assets in a safe and reliable condition Identifying and implementing improvement initiatives which will involve working with many different disciplines within the organisation Promoting and identifying HSE opportunities to improve equipment, processes and behaviours What you'll bring A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team Respect for others and an all-inclusive mindset Valid C Class drivers licence A Mechanical Engineering or Fitter & Turner trade qualification Proven history of fault finding and repairs on various fixed plant equipment Proven maintenance experience working in heavy/industrial industry If you are excited about the role and think you have what it takes but your experience doesn't align 100% we still want to hear from you. Where you'll be working Boyne Smelters Limited is Australia's second largest aluminium smelter with a 1,000-person strong workforce. Located approximately 20km south east of Gladstone at Boyne Island on the Central Queensland coast, BSL produces around 500,000 tonnes of aluminium per annum. Activities at BSL include manufacturing carbon anodes in the carbon plant, aluminium production (smelting) in reduction lines, and casting of molten material into aluminium products ready to ship. The smelter is connected via a conveyor belt to the Queensland Alumina Limited refinery for the supply of alumina.
