Outback Spirit Tours offers a range of unique adventure tours, desert safaris and luxury short stays across our beautiful country. We operate 9 lodges in some of the most remote, inaccessible and beautiful locations. ABOUT THE ROLE: To be successful in this role, you will be self-motivated, technically minded with a mechanical qualification and a proven track record. You must be willing to get your hands dirty!
You will need to have the ability to diagnose and find suitable solutions to issues over the phone and be prepared for last minute, potentially unplanned travel when there is no alternative solution.
This is a unique, fast paced leadership role that provides you with an opportunity to work in some incredible places at a management level.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Liaise with Lodge Managers and on-site Maintenance Staff to ensure that mechanical assets are running efficiently with minimal interruption to guests Ensure all equipment, e.g. generators, motor vehicles, tractors, or trucks, are properly maintained and serviced. This includes assisting in the direction of other employees to ensure these tasks are completed Have some experience with marine engines and be able to liaise with marine technicians Coordinate repairs to company assets and equipment as required Conduct visits to lodges to inspect mechanical equipment for safety and compliance and ensure employees are using equipment correctly and safely, and in the best interest of the business Organise and order parts, filters, etc. that are required to be kept in stock Liaise with suppliers both locally and interstate to ensure suitable parts solutions at the best prices and maintain these relationships. This should be coordinated with the Fleet Manager to ensure company-wide procurement is driving best-cost repairs and maintenance Maintain service and repair records and documentation, and ensure all jobs are up to date. Utilise the MEX system for equipment and fleet logs Research new tools and equipment to ensure the company is using the best equipment possible for quality and safety Maintain accurate financial records relating to spend within each property budget ensuring budgets are met Create and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for all plant and equipment Identify projects to be included in yearly capex planning and provide costings ABOUT YOU: To be successful in this role you will have:
Certificate III Mechanical – light or heavy vehicle Vehicle refrigeration accreditation (desirable) Previous supervisory experience in remote operations (desirable) Proactive customer focused approach to building relationships with internal staff and external stakeholders.
