About the role Select Plant Hire is currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Fitter with Rail industry qualifications.
This role will be located at the Select Plant Australia – Laverton Depot on a full-time basis.
The role is to diagnose, fault find, and repair equipment in a timely manner while providing effective customer service on-site.
You will be part of a broader team of like-minded individuals working in a dynamic environment.
In order to be considered for the position, you will hold the below minimum requirements:
RIW Card (Rail Industry Worker) (Favourable) OHS Construction Card (White Card) Rail Track experience (favourable) Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening Current Mechanical Trade Certificate or equivalent Current Class C (or greater) Drivers Licence Extra tickets are an advantage Current Test and Tag or willingness to obtain Current Fire Extinguisher Test and Tag or willingness to obtain Key Skills and Knowledge Required: Solid experience working effectively in a team or field-based environment Experience adapting to change in a working environment Willingness to embrace new ideas/learning Sound communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills relevant to the position, strongly focused on the provision of quality customer service. Solid time management, job planning, and organisational skills Practical experience in risk assessment of activities and tasks Practical experience in administrative duties relevant to the responsibilities of the position. Knowledge of statutory requirements of various acts and regulations relevant to the position Willingness and ability to complete job-related training Willingness to travel and/or be capable of being included in industry-based training to maximise technical knowledge of the asset base. Key Responsibilities: To work as a team member in carrying out the activities of the workshop team which include (but are not limited to):
Exhibit Safety Culture by leading and contributing to Select Plant Australia's Zero Harm Philosophy Actively developing and reviewing safe work practices, procedures, and work method statements Small plant and equipment repairs and maintenance Major and minor repairs to vehicles, plant, equipment, and machinery Utilise and maintain small items of plant, equipment, tools (hand and power), and personal protective equipment and clothing Contribute to the scheduling and maintenance of equipment within service interval schedules – as per internal processes Willingness to travel to support remote projects as required Vehicle, plant, equipment, and machinery testing Maintenance and cleaning of facilities, tools, and equipment Obtain parts and consumables from the store manager and complete all necessary paperwork Ensuring environmental compliance with workshop waste products, cleaning, etc. Undertake, with general guidance, the directions and objectives conveyed by the Leading Hand and Workshop Manager ensuring all work is conducted safely and to the required standard. Support the role of the Leading Hand by providing assistance with developing and implementing workshop programs Undertake administrative responsibilities including completion of standard workplace documentation (e.g.
timesheets, standard forms, site safety documentation, etc.)
within the required timeframes and to the required standard Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) and environmental requirements specific to the Branch. Undertake other relevant duties as directed, consistent with the employee's skill competence and training. #J-18808-Ljbffr
