The Opportunity
Our Port Kembla Springhill Manufacturing facility is looking for a Mechanical Fitter in our Paint Finishing Department based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions, and services to our export and domestic customers.
In this hands-on position, you will focus on maintaining our Paint Finishing Department cranes, ensuring that our crane equipment is maintained to the highest standards to meet our objectives for safety, quality, and reliability. You will apply your mechanical fitting skills and experience to complete both complex and routine maintenance tasks, with a focus on improving our equipment performance and reliability by understanding plant and equipment condition and then implementing corrective actions to restore as required.
What will you do?
You will apply your technical expertise to ensure that all mechanical equipment is maintained, as well as assisting with other Paint Finishing Department tasks. You will:
Isolate equipment and perform preventative and corrective maintenance.
Inspect production and quality critical equipment and fault find.
Resolve issues and fix any non-conformances.
Seek ways to continuously improve our maintenance practices and strategies.
Plan and organise for shutdowns via our maintenance management system (SAP).
Provide supply, stock, and purchase requisitions, schedules, work orders, and parts listing via the use of the computerised maintenance management system.
More About You
You will be motivated and have a strong technical background with the ability to work effectively and flexibly in a team environment. You will also have:
Mechanical trade qualifications, with the desire to progress to a Diploma of Mechanical Engineering if not already current.
Experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment conducting a maintenance function.
Experience with coordinating work using a computerised maintenance management system.
Experience working both independently and as part of a manufacturing team.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently.
