Mechanical Fitter

A mechanical fitter is the engineering specialist responsible for putting together machine parts, installing, maintaining and repairing plants and equipment. Your work involves assembling parts made from metals or other materials to create production equipment and machinery.
Mechanical fitters provide detailed inspection, troubleshooting, oversight, and diagnosis of operational problems in plant and distribution systems including boilers, heat exchangers, chillers, and piping systems including expansion joints, valves, supports, and anchors.
Mechanical Fitter Duties & Responsibilities Sample responsibilities for this position include:
Be able to swiftly and comprehensively fault-find, rectify problems on mechanical equipment including sewage pumps and valves and associated pipe work, air blowers, wastewater inlet screens, storm water screens, biological filter equipment, tanks, tank bridges, conveyor systems & fabrication structures. Removing for repair and replacing by new/refurbished valves and actuators. X-tree valves & actuators repairing. Take the lead with safe working practices to ensure superior levels of safety and housekeeping are obtained - achieve zero lost time injuries in workshop. Supervise personnel, while working hands on to execute assigned work to required standards. Ensure standard work practices and procedures are followed. Attend safety meetings and carry out Safety Observations. Assist in the control of consumable and tooling usage to minimise wastage. Assist in the review of daily timesheets from shop floor personnel on a daily basis. Ensure Corporate Engineering Standards are met. #J-18808-Ljbffr
