Job Description Viva Energy's Geelong Refinery employs around 700 people and supplies over 50 percent of Victoria's and 10 percent of Australia's fuel.
The refinery can process up to 120,000 barrels of oil per day, manufacturing petrol, diesel, LPG, jet fuel, avgas, bitumen, specialty solvents for a wide range of industries. We now have a great opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter to join the team for a 12-month Fixed Term contract.
In this role, you will work within the Engineering Services group at the Geelong Refinery to maintain our diverse fleet of rotating equipment, operating within Viva Energy Australia's safe working procedures and practices.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will:
Conduct strip and assessment, overhaul and repair works on various rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, and steam turbines). Perform dynamic balancing of rotating equipment and the alignment of mechanical components and machines. Machine parts to modify or manufacture as part of overhaul or repair works. Use problem solving, failure analysis and decision-making skills to troubleshoot equipment issues and failures. Work within our CMMS to document maintenance history. This role includes working extended hours and responding to after hour's call-ins, as required to support critical business activities.
Qualifications About you Qualified Fitter / Machinist with a trade certificate. Experienced with rotating equipment in a relevant industry (preferably Oil & Gas, industrial, Mining or Power Generation). Competent in the use of workshop machinery. Computer literacy and experienced with the use of computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS). Holder of Dogman or Rigger qualifications (preferable). Able to plan and manage your time, able to work to deadlines and changing priorities. Able to work in a team environment and other work groups such as operations, engineering and other trades. Excellent communicator and problem solver. Comfortable making decisions, using your judgement and experience to find the best solution. Be fully compliant with safety and willing to stop and seek out help if your work cannot be performed safely. Additional Information About Viva Energy Join a team that values diversity.
