Fluid Power AU is a rapidly growing engineering business specialising in the design, service and supply of hydraulic equipment to the Mining, Oil & Gas, Defence, Marine, Earthmoving and Power Generation industries in the Top End of the Northern Territory, Australia.
We have an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team.
The position requires engagement with a wide range of industries and will involve assisting in mechanical engineering research, design, manufacture, construction, operation and maintenance of machines, manufacturing equipment, mechanical installations and facilities.
BenefitsAbove award wages with penalties paid for overtime ($100,000 - $140,000)38 hour base working week plus overtimeOccasional Remote work with generous allowances paidWell-equipped workshopFriendly team working environmentTasks & ResponsibilitiesPreparing drawings, plans and designs for mechanical engineering work under the direction of Mechanical Engineers and TechniciansAssisting in the design of mechanical equipment and plantSelecting tools and equipmentAssembling and installing new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools and controls, and hydraulic power systemsEstimating material costs and quantities, and machine requirementsPerforming and directing field and laboratory testsCollecting and analysing data, carrying out complex computations and preparing diagramsOrganising and supervising inspection and maintenance of machines and plantEnsuring that designs and finished work are within specifications, regulations and contract provisionsQualification & ExperienceA Mechanical Engineering Technician qualification (eg: Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma) or equivalentA sound understanding of hydraulic systems inclusive of:Fixed Displacement systemsClosed Loop Hydraulic TransmissionPressure & Flow Compensated (Load Sense)Electro Proportional hydraulic controlAbility to read and understand hydraulic schematic drawingsAt least five years of relevant experienceA good eye for detailGood organisational skills and ability to prioritiseAbility to work unsupervisedWillingness to work remote occasionally (mines & oil rigs)About CompanyFluid Power AU is a small busy team who work hard to exceed customer expectations.
