About the Role:
Joblin Partners, on behalf of our client, is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager (MEM) for a large, state-of-the-art underground coal operation in the Illawarra region. This is an opportunity to join an industry leader committed to innovation and operational excellence.
The operation is a large and complex site with significant MEM responsibilities, featuring a mix of advanced and new equipment, including two brand-new continuous miners and a longwall system. The site aims to ramp up production to between 5.2 and 5.6 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with long-wall blocks now 2.5 to 3 times longer than before.
The successful candidate will ensure all statutory requirements are met while maintaining and optimizing key equipment like advanced longwall shearers, continuous miners, and roof supports. You will be instrumental in project implementation, integrating compliance standards with engineering best practices to enhance performance and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead mechanical engineering efforts, optimizing and maintaining state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure. Implement and manage new equipment projects, including longwall and continuous miner technology. Collaborate with Shift Maintenance Supervisors and other staff to maintain performance standards. Focus on safety and risk management, especially concerning diesel combustion and winders. Oversee the dewatering projects and the new pump stations, ensuring alignment with production targets. About You:
Proven experience in a mechanical engineering management role within underground coal operations. Current MEM UG Coal NSW ticket is essential to be eligible for this role. Experience with winder systems and dewatering projects is advantageous. Ability to manage complex projects and optimize equipment performance in a dynamic environment. Must live/work/reside/relocate to the Illawarra Region (full relocation assistance provided by the client). What's on Offer:
