Your role: As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll get hands-on experience and responsibility early in your career.
You'll be leading the team that looks after the mechanical aspects of the ship, both at sea and ashore.
As the technical expert onboard, you'll be responsible for the vessel's structures and systems, anticipating and solving challenges, and making sure everything runs smoothly.
If you're already studying or ready to study a job-relevant degree at your choice of accredited university, you can join the Navy and have your fees paid for.
You'll earn a salary while you complete your degree and walk straight into a Navy role following graduation.
The professional development you gain as a Navy Engineer enables automatic Chartered Professional Engineer accreditation with Engineers Australia, giving you international recognition of your engineering competency.
Your duties could include, but aren't limited to: Leading and looking after your team of engineering personnel Ship structure Propulsion systems Electrical generation and distribution Domestic and associated mechanical services, Main and auxiliary machinery Engines Air conditioning Hydraulics Benefits: Free medical and dental 16.4% superannuation Subsidised housing Travel opportunities Job security Incremental salary increases as you progress through training and ranks Chef made meals at sea Social and fitness facilities Balance of shore and sea postings Variety of allowances Salary: When you first join the Navy and while studying for your degree at the university of your choice, you will be paid between $35,326 and $54,166 depending on your year of study.
Upon completion of your degree, initial military and employment training, you'll enjoy a salary package starting from $100,845.

For this role, you must be over 17 at time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen and be able to provide evidence that you are enrolled in or studying a Bachelor of Engineering in either Mechanical, Marine/Ocean, Aerospace/Aeronautical, Electrical (Power), or Naval Architecture.
