Job Summary: As Mechanical Engineer, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to find work scope and cost estimates for a project's mechanical aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's mechanical aspects are met.
Major Responsibilities: Evaluates, selects, and applies standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Participates in the design, development, and modification of mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs). Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines. Coordinates mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groups. Prepares conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals. Provides technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards. Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution. Education and Experience Requirements: Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering and 5-8 years of relevant experience. Required Knowledge and Skills: Computer skills including competence in MS Office suite and other common software. Experience in the design and specification of bulk materials handling equipment and other mechanical equipment commonly used in mining and metals projects. Flexibility and enthusiasm for individual and team tasks. Analytical problem-solving capabilities. Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication.
