) Position OverviewWorking in Mechanical Engineering, you will be a key part of the team that creates new
products from the conceptual phase through to manufacturing.
You will work with a cross-functional team of industrial designers, electrical engineers, firmware engineers, and manufacturing engineers to
create new products and maintain our existing product lines.
You will develop and refine
concepts, complete and validate the detailed designs, and transfer the products to
manufacturing.
You will also refine our existing products to improve performance
and manufacturability and to reduce costs.
This position is based at our offices located in Victoria, BC, with a hybrid work model for
discussion after the initial probationary period is complete.
ResponsibilitiesDeveloping the mechanical structure and detailed designs of new lighting productsCreating and revising designs of mechanical parts using SolidworksPerforming engineering calculations and simulations to optimize the structure of our
productsCreating and revising engineering drawings using SolidworksOptimizing & validating thermal designs for LED heat dissipationDeveloping & executing product test plansConducting tests of mechanical, optical, and electrical components and assembliesOther duties and responsibilities as assigned.Skills/Knowledge/AbilitiesBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.Three to five years of product design experienceExperience using SolidWorks Simulation software and creating parts and drawingsInvolvement with designing sheet metal, castings and machined partsExperience developing and executing product testsExperience with new product introduction and change managementSolid working knowledge of physics and engineering principlesStrong understanding of material scienceSolid understanding of design for manufacturability principlesDemonstrated mechanical aptitude and creative abilitiesPrevious hands-on skills with basic shop toolsUnderstanding of basic electronics.Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.
Previous experience
