About the Role
As the Mechanical Engineer (Power Utilities), you will:
Drive implementation of engineering best practice for our Pulp & Paper Mill to increase overall plant efficiency.
Utilise your understanding of engineering best practices with an aim to implement these at the mill, thus improving asset reliability and performance.
Your strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure will suit this fast-paced environment. An attitude where no job is too small, passion to learn new skills, and the ability to lead by example, will fit right into the team.
Duties
Reporting to the Mechanical Reliability & Maintenance Manager, you will:
Develop proactive and preventative maintenance initiatives through implementation of engineering analysis of plant performance.
Execute, design, maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment, facilities, components, products and services for the Engineering department.
Ensure disciplined focus on predictive and preventative maintenance of mechanical equipment.
Investigate failures using Root Cause Analysis techniques, design and implement corrective and preventive solutions to eliminate the cause or to reduce the likelihood of failure.
Ensure compliance for all statutory inspections on all pressure vessels/piping and safety valves, and ensure records are updated.
Understand and adhere to all Visy management systems, policies and procedures, and other regulatory body requirements.
What You Will Bring to the Team
Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical) with minimum 5 years' experience.
Experience in a 24/7 heavy manufacturing or processing environment, ideally turbine and compressor experience and/or experience in pulp mill power utilities.
Strong analytical skills, a high level of initiative and the ability to work autonomously.
Continuous improvement mindset, proactive problem solving with a solution-focused approach.
CMMS experience.
