At 1.9 kilometres deep, it is one of Australia's deepest underground mines.Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, CSA Mine directly employs over 500 people including contractors.About the Role:We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team. You will play a key role in managing, executing, and controlling the mine's mechanical infrastructure, supporting both operational efficiency and capital projects.Key Responsibilities:Manage mechanical infrastructure, ensuring no adverse impact on processing plant or underground operations.Supervise third-party engineering design personnel and ensure designs conform to Australian Standards.Develop and maintain the Mechanical Engineering Control Plan (MECP).Provide on-the-job engineering support for maintenance teams, including fieldwork.Actively participate in risk assessments, HAZAN, and HAZOPS processes.Contribute to plant inspections, maintenance activities, and shutdowns.Establish commissioning processes, checklists, and follow-up punch lists.Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in shaft hoisting design, materials handling, and mechanical design.Leadership: Experience in contractor management and project oversight.Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, maintaining open and transparent communication with internal and external stakeholders.Problem Solving: Ability to evaluate and improve processes to add value and increase efficiency.Qualifications & Experience:Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) or equivalent.RIIRIS301D - Apply Risk Management Processes certification.Extensive experience in shaft hoisting design, planning, and execution, including contractor management.Experience with shaft crushing and hoisting systems construction projects in a senior role.Familiarity with Australian Standards and mechanical design of materials handling systems.Conditions:This position is offered on a residential (preferred) or drive in drive out (DIDO) or fly in fly out (FIFO) from Sydney or Brisbane on an 8/6 roster.If residential is the preferred commute option relocation costs and a housing subsidy will be provided to the successful candidate to assist in relocating to Cobar. Candidates interested in the DIDO or FIFO will be provided with commute single accommodation and meals at the mine camp.
