This role will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of mechanical systems within our power generation, transmission, and distribution assets. The successful candidate will be instrumental in optimising maintenance strategies, performing root cause analysis, and driving improvements in asset reliability to support Fortescue's operational and sustainability goals.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance & Reliability: Develop, optimise, and execute maintenance strategies for key mechanical equipment, including gas turbines, reciprocating engines.Technical Support: Provide technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues in power generation and transmission systems, including pumps, compressors, turbines, and ancillary equipment. They will be the first port of call to deal with equipment issues.Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Lead and participate in failure investigations, conduct RCA, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.Work Prioritisation & Planning Support: Ensure that maintenance work is planned and prioritised effectively to maintain asset reliability. Provide support in scheduling and ensuring the right work is completed at the right time.Project Involvement: Support capital projects by contributing to design, specification, and commissioning phases for mechanical systems across Energy Operations. Provide onsite commissioning support for projects to ensure compliance with design specifications and operational standards.Compliance & Safety: Ensure all maintenance and engineering activities are compliant with Australian Standards, safety regulations, and Fortescue's internal safety guidelines.Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve mechanical reliability, reduce maintenance costs, and enhance operational efficiency. Drive the adoption of best practices in mechanical engineering and asset management.Qualifications and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or a relevant trade qualification with extensive field experience with turbines or gas reciprocating engines.WA Class C Driver's LicenseMinimum 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance and reliability in power generation, heavy industry, or mining environments.Strong knowledge of gas turbines, reciprocating engines, pumps, compressors, and other mechanical systems commonly used in power generation and transmission.Experience with root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., Apollo RCA), asset management principles, and maintenance strategy development.Software Proficiency: Familiarity with CMMS (e.g., SAP).Familiarity with planning processes and procurement processesExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively liaising with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.About UsBe part of something big.
