As part of the Engineering team, you will be responsible for supporting all systems and equipment within the engineering department as well you will provide professional mechanical engineering advice for all Terminal assets, including a wide range of fixed and mobile plant (heavy duty diesel powered).The Role:Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for the mechanical design, manufacture, installation and maintenance requirements for our Sydney based Terminal. As a technical specialist, you will lead the development of mechanical engineering principles whilst ensuring all mechanical assets are compliant with Australian standards and government legislation. Your will be required to:Undertake continuous improvement of equipment, contributing towards strengthening the businesses position in the marketEnsure maintenance employees and external contractors are competent and adhere to all safe work practices, legislation and Company policy and procedureAssist with the development and implementation of engineering procedures at SICTLAs part of the Engineering team, work towards KPI's set by the executive management teamEnsure engineering activities are conducted safely in accordance with Company policy and procedure, legislation and safety regulationsAssist with all stages of procurement for equipment and servicesContractor managementUndertake training and mentoring of other staff to ensure individuals are competent with mechanical engineering aspects of their dutiesUndertake Project Management of tasks and activitiesYou:To be successful in this role, you will possess:A Bachelor Degree in a mechanical disciplineProfessional registered Engineer in NSW (and ideally QLD)Extensive mechanical engineering experience within heavy industry, specifically with heavy industrial mechanical equipment and ideally engineering experience with gantry or overhead cranes exceeding 20TStrong people leadership skills with extensive previous experience supervising or managing employees and/or contractorsExcellent interpersonal skills with the ability to provide first class customer service to the operations departmentTop tier communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to a wide range of stakeholders and individualsAnalytical mindset with strong problem solving abilityUnderstanding of EA and awardsHigh level of safety awareness, compliance, leadership and commitment to safety practicesExperience in fully automated and or high speed production environment is desirableShould you fulfil the above criteria and enjoy the fresh sea breeze, then please click the "Apply for this job" button.Only successful candidates will be contacted.Your application will include the following questions:Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in Australia?What's your expected annual base salary?About SICTL:Sydney International Container Terminals (SICTL) operates a modern international container terminal at Sydney's Port Botany, which is on a 45 hectare site and officially opened in July 2014.Main Features:Depth alongside - 16.4 metresCranes; Post Panamax Quay Cranes, Automated Stacking CranesOn-site empty container storage facility
