To support our mission, Raytheon is currently seeking a motivated mechanical engineer who is ready to join a talented team of engineering professionals on-site in Exmouth. Reporting to the SST Mission System Supervisor, the mechanical engineer will assist the Raytheon Australia engineering team with issues associated with the SST facility and interfaces to the Space Surveillance Telescope. Key Responsibilities Serve as the on-site SST facility subject matter expert by providing mechanical system expertise Conduct risk assessments of mechanical / structural hazards, regulatory compliance and propose solutions. Timely and effective communication of hazards, defects and design or maintenance deficiencies. Liaise with Raytheon management on project engineering issues, design process and engineering change development and execute according to company and program procedures. Coordinate with mission partners, acting as a key technical liaison and ensuring that the facility is fully integrated into broader mission planning. Identify potential issues and areas for improvement within the SST facility. Participate in technical reviews and audits. Mentor engineering and technical staff. Skills, Experience and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent degree with structural and/or mechanical systems industry experience. Minimum of six years' experience in operational and/or in-service support phases of major programs, preferably in Defence technology and/or construction related industries. Willingness to become and maintain a chartered professional engineering status via Engineers Australia. Experience making improvements to processes, systems, or products to enhance performance. Understanding of systems engineering, engineering support, maintenance support, and technical documentation disciplines. Knowledge of product life cycle and experience with system performance metrics. Solid skills in relevant business and engineering applications. Travel Infrequent travel to Adelaide will be required to support engineering investigations as well as travel within Australia for business and development related training. Clearance Candidate must be eligible to obtain an Australian defence security clearance.
