Mining - Engineering & Maintenance (Mining, Resources & Energy) Full time Kimberley Mineral Sands Pty Ltd (KMS) is a 50/50 joint venture between Sheffield Resources Limited and YGH Australia Investment Pty Ltd (Yansteel), formed to develop the Thunderbird Mineral Sands Project (Thunderbird).Thunderbird is one of the largest and highest-grade zircon mineral sands deposits in the world and contains valuable heavy minerals including ilmenite, zircon, leucoxene, and rutile, which will be extracted and exported via the Port of Broome. Mineral sands are used in everyday applications including ceramics, sunscreen, paint, plastics and titanium products. The Project is located 140km by road between Broome and Derby in Western Australia and has a current mine life in excess of 37 years.Our head office is based in Broome, and together we are focused on delivering economic and social benefits for the West Kimberley and its communities. We do this through living our values of Integrity, Accountability, Humility, Co-Creation and Inclusivity.About the RoleResiding in the West Kimberley and reporting to the Superintendent Engineering, this is an exciting opportunity for aMechanical Engineerto join our growing mining company, supporting the development and review of mechanical standards, engineering practices and procedures for the life cycle of mechanical plant and installations at the Thunderbird mine site.This role involves managing various projects including new equipment and upgrades, as well as collaborating with the site maintenance and operations teams to provide engineering support to improve the reliability of equipment to meet operational targets, and deliver on our budgeted commitments.Site based roster: 4 days on, 3 days offKey ResponsibilitiesAnalyse performance data to identify and implement reliability improvement initiativesExecute technical based projects to improve plant performance including engineering design documentation for concept, front end and detailed design stagesTake accountability for the solution of significant mechanical engineering issuesReview criticality analysis to ensure plant events are documented, tracked and prioritised through risk reviewIdentify the plant bottlenecks and facilitate improvements for reducing unit costsConduct FMECA/RCA (Root Cause Analysis) into failures and provide improvement actions and monitor the implementation of those actionsAbout YouTertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplineMinimum 5 years' relevant experience in large scale heavy industry in an engineering and/or projects roleDemonstrated experience in mining, mineral processing, or manufacturing businessesExperience in engineering design and improvementsSound understanding of fixed plant assets, plant maintenance and reliability practicesAdvanced problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causesExcellent stakeholder negotiation and management skillsAbility to communicate complex technical concepts to key stakeholdersExperience with commissioning and start-up of new plant and infrastructureExperience overseeing project/construction activities, including ITP's, SAT's, Punch Lists, commissioning stage certificates and handover documentationSAP Maintenance Management System experience would be advantageousAbout the BenefitsIn addition to joining our values focused team, you would also be eligible for the following benefits:Housing & Living Allowances5 weeks annual leave per annumRelocation support provided, if applicableOur Commitment to Diversity & InclusionKMS is committed to advancing an inclusive and diverse workforce culture and environment where people feel comfortable to be themselves.
