Summary: Responsible for supporting all aspects of the Maintenance Department. This includes supporting the upkeep of all manufacturing assets and assisting in the design and installation of new systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Performs maintenance management including establishing own priorities in maintenance schedules Maintains manufacturing assets and facility, parts inventory, monitoring purchase orders Support the provision of training and continuous development on all maintenance personnel Drives the maintenance and reliability initiative focused on preventive and predictive maintenance, not reactive Performs other duties by coordinating work with outside inspections, providing project management, ensuring safety of personnel, and performing other duties as required Managing, maintaining, and establishing maintenance procedures for production lines in a food manufacturing environment to ensure production meets or performs better than budget Developing and maintaining quality standards Developing and maintaining associate safety standards Participate in designing and developing future production capacities by attending design meetings; coordinating with the Research & Development Department regarding product changes and improvements; and updating maintenance operating procedures and schedules to incorporate the changes Responsible for maintaining Food Safety and Quality Systems as assigned Ensuring technical integrity of the mechanical and process component of continuous improvement and capital engineering project work, providing engineering support to all levels within the site Provide engineering solutions to production, quality, and engineering departments Support project needs and expectations and deliver to budget and schedule Providing technical support on the commissioning and decommissioning of new and current production lines Assist with developing detailed process schemes, layout and specification of plant for pricing, tendering, and construction purposes Identify cost-saving opportunities through process improvements, waste reduction, and equipment optimisation Participate in and undertake day-to-day activities of the maintenance department Setup and monitor production machinery and equipment safely and efficiently including fillers, packers, and labellers Respond to break downs and emergencies Preventative maintenance and servicing of all production equipment Undertake regular and programmed maintenance of plant machinery, buildings, and services to ensure that it is maintained in good and safe condition Ensure production processes are conducted in a safe and responsible manner that conforms to statutory requirements/regulations and is consistent with company policies and procedures Must be able to work a flexible schedule Fulfil other duties as required by management and other department personnel as requested/required. KEY REQUIREMENTS Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or trade qualification in related field
Currently hold a valid electrical licence – Preferred.
5 years of maintenance experience in a food manufacturing environment with Can seamer Machine experience Experience within the dairy powder industry maintaining seamers and fillers; or demonstrated previous experience in a food and beverage manufacturing environment within a canning and packaging operation
Experience with vacuum and mechanical transfer systems
Experience working on high-speed production and packaging equipment
Experience in fabrication welding – Preferred.
Skills / Knowledge Detail-oriented and organised Excellent technical knowledge of equipment, products, and processes Self-motivated, results orientated and excellent personal skills Strong knowledge in Maintenance and Reliability Strong knowledge/experience managing maintenance through CMMS Strong background in safety; HACCP; GMP Sound knowledge of PLC-based equipment Must have a hands-on work ethic.
