About the Role The Mechanic/Test Technician is primarily responsible for maintaining and repairing the RDA test vehicle fleet at AARC (L121 and L400) and supporting conduct of DT&E and V&V testing for all RDA vehicle programs.
The role requires occasional travel to various customer and Rheinmetall sites within Australia.
The general and generic duties of the Mechanic/Test Technician include, but are not limited to: Assist, conduct, and / or supervise fault diagnostics and repairs on Logistics and Tactical test vehicle fleet; Document and complete maintenance and repair logs for all vehicle in ISSDB (In Service Support DataBase); Check and prepare mission module, mission systems and vehicles for testing; Support engineering test and information requests; Autonomously undertake technical investigations associated with field and or engineering faults; Prepare comprehensive reports associated with technical investigations for the engineering community; Advise and support testing activities in the weapon and weapon systems areas; Provide comprehensive training to colleagues on Logistics and Tactical vehicles; Provide comprehensive training to colleagues on Weapons and Weapon Systems; Work independently at various customer and Rheinmetall sites; and Fulfil other duties and responsibilities that may be required to maintain vehicle test fleet.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE What are we looking for?

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes: Trade qualified Mechanic (Certificate III as a Minimum); Proven experience in maintaining (light, medium and heavy) vehicles, including servicing and repairing diesel engine and vehicle sub-systems and components; Automotive diagnostic skills in the following areas: Electrical; Electronic; Electro mechanical and; Mechanical CANBUS experience; Currently hold or the ability to gain the appropriate Australian Security Clearance; Willingness to travel interstate and internationally for extended periods; and Ability to work with minimal guidance and supervision.
Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).
Desirable: Experience in the Defence Logistics and Tactical vehicles; Experience in Defence Weapons and Weapon Systems; Trade qualified Fitter (Certificate III as a Minimum – Lathe, Milling Machine); Heavy Rigid Drivers Licence or above; Forklift Licence; and Maintenance planning and/or scheduling experience.
